our community and I know the Community Blood Center was so grateful for all our help. Donating blood for the first time and even organizing the blood drive made me realize that it can just be the little things that count and that can make a huge difference. It was definitely an experience I'll remember for a very long time and I am so thankful I was able to be a part of it!

CAPS Blood Drive

Beginning in about the middle of January my class and I started the project of organizing an annual blood drive at CAPS. We partnered with the Community Blood Drive and made a plan for everything we needed to get done before the actual blood drive on February 10th. There was a lot of preparation we all needed to get done with recruitment and advertising in order to be able to reach our goal of 50 donors. It was a long process, we went around to all of the CAPS classes and told each class details about when, where, and what the blood drive was. We even told them facts about blood donation to try and make an even bigger impact. For example, 35000 blood donations are needed every day. You can save up to 3 lives with the 1 pint of blood you would donate. It only takes about 10 minutes from the needle going into your arm until it comes out. Another fun fact we included was that you would get to find out your blood type and you get a card in the mail with your blood type on it. After our recruitment in the CAPS building, we needed to do some recruiting outside the school because the blood drive was open to anyone                       willing to donate. We were able to do some outside recruitment                   in the area around CAPS. About a week before the actual date                     we decorated all around the building advertising the blood drive                   so people wouldn't forget.

February 10th (the day of the blood drive) was such an amazing                     day. We actually ended up getting 69 blood donors which was                       absolutely amazing!! I actually ended up donating blood as well.                   Although I was very nervous because it was my first time, it                         made me feel a certain way that I'd never felt before. I couldn't                   stop thinking about the people I could be helping that we're in                     need of. It stuck out to me so much because it was just a                             different feeling than doing community service because I was                       giving something away that was a part of me. I also felt so                         proud of how all of our hard work paid off by the number of                       donors we were able to get. I know we made a big impact on

My Experience

This was an amazing opportunity to be able to experience and apply all of our learning this semester to a specific type of therapy and see how it affects us specifically. Although it was very cold, I did 100% notice a difference, especially because I was sore when I did the therapy.

Research About CryoSalon

Prior to visiting this site, we did some research beforehand, and I learned so many cool things I had no idea about before! Cryotherapy is a hyper-cooling process to rejuvenate your body, reduce inflammation, pain and soreness by surrounding your body with extremely cold nitrogen vapors averaging -240℉ for up to 3 minutes. While this is chilly, Whole Body Cryotherapy is tolerable, fast, non-invasive, and painless. When the session is complete, your skin will return to its normal temperature within minutes. Immediately after you may feel a slight tingling sensation, but within minutes you will likely feel relaxed and muscular pain generally begins to subside immediately. Many clients report feeling invigorated with diminished pain symptoms immediately after WBC. Your body’s natural healing mechanisms are transported via your blood. WBC “tricks” your body into implementing the same responses it would if you were freezing, which means blood moves more quickly than normal in order to warm your extremities. Increased blood flow enriched with hormones, enzymes and oxygen, as well as, flushing out toxins, will enhance muscle recovery. Researchers and providers (including MDs) in Europe and Asia have been developing and refining Whole Body Cryotherapy for over 30 years.  Countless studies have been done on the various benefits of Whole Body Cryotherapy. Lastly, CryoSalon offers many different types of therapies including Whole Body Cryotherapy, CryoSalon Facial, Local Cryotherapy, Compression Therapy, Assisted Stretch, and CryoShaping.
